Privacy Policy
Ihsan Family Homes (NPC 2020/490170/08) is the responsible party for the personal information described here, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
What we collect, and why
We collect only what we need for a stated purpose:
- Contact enquiries — your name, email address, optional phone number and message, used solely to respond to you.
- Volunteer applications — submitted through our volunteer form, used to assess and contact prospective volunteers.
- Donations — where you request a Section 18A tax certificate, we collect your name and email address in order to issue it.
We do not use your information for anything other than the purpose you gave it for, and we do not sell it or share it with advertisers.
Consent
Where we rely on your consent, we record the exact wording you agreed to, the purpose, and when you agreed. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting our Information Officer. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.
How long we keep it
- Contact enquiries — 12 months from submission, then automatically anonymised.
- Volunteer applications — held in Surveyz for as long as your application is under consideration.
- Donation records — retained as long as South African tax law requires for Section 18A record-keeping, which is longer than our ordinary period.
Deletion is enforced by an automated process, not by manual review.
Who processes it on our behalf
Our volunteer form is operated by Surveyz, hosted in Microsoft Azure's South Africa North (Johannesburg) region. Donation payments are processed by PayFast, who receive your payment details directly — we never see or store your card details.
Your personal information does not leave South Africa. Because there is no cross-border transfer, section 72 of POPIA does not apply.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what we hold about you, correct or delete it, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Contact our Information Officer and we will respond. We may first need to verify your identity — acting on an unverified request would itself put your information at risk.
You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
Information Officer
Our Information Officer is Faruz Jabaar. Requests about your personal information, and any complaint about how it has been handled, can be addressed to him at faruz.jabaar@ihsanfamilyhomes.co.za.
Security
Traffic to this site is encrypted in transit. Access to personal information is restricted to authorised administrators, and every such access is logged.
